Venue: The Carousel was the former El Patio Ballroom on the second floor of the car dealership on the southwest corner of Van Ness Ave. and Market Street. It became the Fillmore West with its first concert held on July 16th. Recording: Probably recorded by "The Bear", bear@thebear.org. (Augustus Owsley Stanley III). He claims he was the soundman that recorded Janis Joplin on this date. http://www.thebear.org Seeder's Notes: This is a particular favourite of mine, a Peter Green FM with guest Paul Butterfield. The attack on PG's guitar is beautifully preserved. Artwork is included; I got lucky in finding a picture of Bill Graham, up a ladder outside the Carousel, fixing the Headliner letters. Reading his lips, I think he is saying "give me an 'F'". Enjoy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is a great Fleetwood Mac show prior to the arrival of unsung guitar great Danny Kirwan. Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer take turns with Jeremy doing his Elmore James style material, and Peter Green playing his ass off on his own great stuff. It appears that Jeremy Spencer only played when he was the front man, and with the exception of some jams, is absent when Peter Green plays his material. There is a quick cut on "Got To Move" at end of the song. It's really cool to hear Peter and Paul Butterfield conferring about what song they're going to play next. They settle on Peter's haunting "I Loved Another Woman", a personal fave of mine and they tear it up. Blues fans rejoyce! This is an excellent show prior to Peter's unfortunate meeting with the Green Manalishi.
