Letters from our guest book

It's quite interesting how long  it takes sometimes before the simplest and most obvious things flash across ones mind. I mean we eventually came with the idea to set up a guest book.
Here is just a few of letters which appeared there during last two summers. All of them are in the original version as far as I understood (sorry for any mistake, especially proper names are sometimes a real teaser ).

Mike &Josh (Ann Arbor MI USA)

happy 4th of July!

congrats. you're found the best hostel in Praha. give the staff some ***** from us

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Donald

Slept hard despite the schoolchildren - appreciated the best beer prices in town - Absinth is not mouthwash - Katkas fruit pie was amazing! (that's all ... for now)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bodie&Doyl

How are you? We are fine, ...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vanessa Readford (Ireland)

Off to Cesky Krumlov but I don't think I'll be as happy as I was here. Thanks everybody for making us feel at home. I hope to come back very soon. Bye Vanessa Redford 9/7/00

Peter (Sweden)

As one would expect, one comes past a lot of different hostels during a European tour. Despite the **** of all those guidebooks I can't agree - it is not the same thing wherever you go. During my stay here at Ujezd I have been both **** and relieved in finding all those drops of coziness that the staff have planted here so perceptively ... this perfect mixture of order&disorder, openness&formality that greet the guests incoming, living and leaving - and that is exactly why I leave now else I shall be forced to spend the rest of my vacation unmoved. Thank you.
...
just wanted to add: Zion is a state of mind, as is Ujezd
...
Aaww, you know I'm drunk&strange but I'd just like to add: by
***** and *****, this can really be a home to you if you like it to. Economical calculations: 220 kc/day x 30 = 6600 kc/month =1500 sek/month. I tell you guys , it's a very good price. Did you plan to go further? Budapest? Vienna? The Moon? Bad idea. Ask one who knows.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

T.

Last morning at the Ujezd oasis. My state of relaxing weariness perfectly reflects the time I've spent here. I feel I have no complaints at all - not even about the drunken Englishmen singing Lennon - McCartney all night long. Praha has treated me well.
The lovely people at the reception tried to have my stay here a little longer. I feel the things at home calling though. I really know what Swedish Peter meant with his dualistic view of the hostel.
It's like the time I've spent is a kind of very concentrated relaxing. Or a very laid-back kind of programmed time-spending. I wonder if I look like the local drug dealer in Finland also?
Well - it always gets to the point where one has to commit total charge - of environment, of people, of atmosphere. It's not actually leaving anything behind, but instead natural movement enriched by one more experience lived. And you couldn't come back if you didn't leave ...

peace and love to all the lovely people t. 12/7

Andy Surber, 12/7

So I have been there and here. And I must say Prague is alive. One or five days is to pass through but to feel the true city you must see Praha 5. Another day and another night. Praha rules lets do it right!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

People from Belgium

We, people from Belgium (Antwerp), stayed here for 2 f**g days (16 a 17 July 2000)
Night life is very good!
...
The first day it was f**g freezeny and, yes, I didn't use the toilet-brush because I urinated all around the hostel-building. If I even find out who has stolen our jeep-radio
(with CD - player), he will burn in hell.

Greetings, Stefan

... good music, atmosphere, ...Praha is lovely place to stay

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dean + Gerry (Ireland, Ornagh)

This has been the best hostel we have stayed in, so far and hope the next will be the same.
Thanks to all the staff for the great time here.

Hi, Ho Absinth!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Simon (Ireland)

This place is the absinthe business, you can't ask for, none the less great staff. (Very appeating) and cheap beer. All I can say to that its I am and I still don't wanna go to bed, I just wanna stay here and sample the delights of Katka ... et, at ...muff said (very difficult to transcribe) anyway anyone reading this thinking of traveling to Ireland must stop into my gaff. look forward to seeing you

Simon

Alessandro Ferrari (Italy)

I have spent here very wonderful, amazing, crazy, funny, moments, days, weeks. The staff is really so cool, nice, kind and a lot of other good things.
Some time (often) I think that this is really my home here in Praha. Here you can meet very crazy and special tourists, here you can drink what you want always, you can do what you want respecting all the others, you can really be what you are - special!

Thanks a lot for all, with love Alessandro Ferrari

PS: I can't stand only a person, this person is not able to smile, maybe he has always some problem, this is The Manager. Sad but True.

....

The Manager

I would like to apologize to all the people i haven't smiled on. Sorry. Nothing against you (mostly).
I just can't smile all the time like a clown, i just can't be a friend with everyone who stays here, I am not the Pluto dog. Yes, I have some problems sometimes. I hope this is not a good reason to hate me. The Manager.

Schaumi (Germany), 14/8

I've been the one getting here not by purpose. But that doesn't matter cause now I'm here and feel fine. Absinth has been so strong but fitted with the strong impressions of Praha. I never have met so many nice people from whole world in such a short period. That's why I'll come back again in two weeks.

Pa, Shaumi

Olivier (France)

I really enjoyed myself here. Cannot believe it. I'm stoned actually. It's great I would say. Very simple things but the major one: Hospitality. Smiling and communicative people in there ...Gaz ...cool guy from....UK. Anyway, just fantastic.

Ciao Olivier

Mr. Higgins

If got had meant for us to be up in the morning, he wouldn't have made them hurt so much. The early piercing sun burns into my post-absinth eyes. The bustle of morning Prague drives needles into my pivo-addicted brain. The concrete stabs into my naked feet. Where are my shoes? It's time for bed said Zebdee as Dylan plays guitar and lights up another carrot.
Congratulations on owning the best hostel in Prague, even if it hurts to get up for my free breakfast .

Mr. Higgins, 2000

Daniel (France),16/8/00

Blues .... Regrets .....
Time to go ... time to leave this place.
Time ... just time. But ... where's my home?
Kde domův můj?

I just wonder and wonder starts my batteries on!

Why is the world. And the world is nothing without intention. And intention is just another word scattered in the withering wind of august when the trees blossom up the Petrin hill while the whirlwind of the mills blow my mind away. Away, where the green grass grow, flowing furiously the flock of human wrecks' roaming restlessly the beaming bridge in the morning sun. Cold sun, dead star, end of a certain world; world of greed, of frozen hopes, of unceasing desires and never sure of anything. Future lies in this melting of everything, of shit and marvel. Past and present mix here ****and Ujezd seems to be this place where fulfillment links emptiness with you.
Such is Ujezd. And so are we. And we are so ... such and so ..... good night, time for bed*

D.

*well, not yet!

Dr. l.o.h.r. un. Alexander Papadopoulos (Johannesburg S.A., but very Greek)

The best thing that Prague is offering is Travellers' hostel by Ujezd. Great manager, nice looking and smiling personal by the reception. And above all pleasant guests who becoming friends over night, from all over the globe, hope to see every one again.

Dave Laughlin (England)

Well!

Had a fantastic 3 weeks(!) here (supposed to be 4 days). Fell in love with the city/hostel/people and don't ever want to leave. Met some really beautiful people here and I think I will remember them all with a shiver from time to time. I'll be back next year to improve my Česky. I'm sure I'll see lots of the people I've met again at some point in the future.

P
řijdu v kdy? Nevím, brzy!

Naschledanou, see you all later

My name is Bren. I had fun here. Yes I did.

But one question still remains: Who's been the guy with the red stickers?

(yes, I am afraid this cause haven't been solved till today)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Samuel (Germany)

I really don't like writing in this kind of books, but I just want to tell the staff: each one of
you - Marketa, Honza, Lida, Katka and Bara - each one of you is a real wonderful person,
and I really enjoyed staying with you.
Of course, many guests were nice too. Have a good time guys!

Samuel

Gian Dominico (Italy, Napoli)

I'm leaving from Praha and I'm sure that I will dream for the rest of my life the pictures of the man and the woman of the Traveller's Hostel. Good bye to all the stuff, and a "great good by" to the most beautiful receptionist that I ever seen: Katka

Gian Dominico

(read the section Who is Milan&Kveta to get to know about " the pictures of the man and the woman of the Traveller's Hostel" mentioned above)

Austin Mayfield (USA, Texas), 7/9/00

If I could choose a place to spend a hazy morning in Prague, this is definitely the place. Trodding through creation in an evil meditation ...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Derek (Ireland)

Cheers everyone. It was the best time I've had in Prague yet. See yis again soon.
Don't get to out of yours heads without me.
